LaunchPoint® gensets are patented technology that includes an air-cooled alternator, lightweight aircraft engine, software, controls, and a battery management system enabling intelligent in-flight battery charging.
LaunchPoint is delivering 40 kW and 5.5 kW hybrid electric gensets to commercial aerospace, automotive, and air taxi companies globally. 125 kW to 250 kW gensets are custom applications for the larger cargo and passenger applications.

Battery Management System
LaunchPoint® has developed LaunchPower™, a series of software and hardware solutions that are designed to be a sophisticated battery management system for high reliability battery packs used in electric and hybrid electric flight.
Our technology is the brains behind the interfacebetween the battery pack and the propulsion system.
LaunchPower™ BMS:
- Microprocessor based system with proprietary software that monitors all functions
- Enables in-flight recharging of battery pack by coordinating with hybrid Bus and GenSet controller
- Measures all cell voltages and temperatures
- Coulomb counting and state of charge (SOC) measurement capability to facilitate “fuel gauge” function
- Pack disconnect circuitry that will remove the pack from the DC bus in a major fault
condition or for pack safety - Processes sensor data to derive battery pack measurements; manage the battery
pack charging and balancing process; and communicate with the power
system controller
