QA Engineer II

The Quality Engineer II, in partnership with the Quality Management System (QMS) Management Representative (MR), is responsible for enforcing the QMS for AS9100 certification for the design and manufacture of LPEPS products. Performs auditing, measurement, effectiveness assessment, and continual process improvement of the QMS. Responsible for product quality assurance, including discrepant material assessment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, supplier assessment and control, and customer quality support and communications. Collaborates with program management, engineering, operations and procurement to ensure the delivery of defect-free products that meet or exceed product specifications and customer expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the QMS Management Representative (MR) in continuous process improvement initiatives including customer quality reviews and internal and external audits.

  • Support the QMS MR to ensure company, product and process compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer-specific quality requirements and LPEPS’s QMS.

  • Review and approve engineering drawings, ECRs, specifications, and manufacturing processes (MWIs and JTs) for QMS conformance.

  • Identify discrepant material or products and analyze quality data and nonconformances (DMRs). Prepare and present quarterly reports and trends. Where needed drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) and lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and FMEA.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.

  • Maintain the AVL, perform supplier development, ensure supplier certifications and quality processes are compliant for use of supplier.

  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier audits, perform source inspections. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure adherence to aerospace standards.

  • Develop criteria and implement incoming inspection process and develop supplier corrective actions for supplier deficiencies.

  • Review Purchase Requests and Purchase Orders to apply appropriate quality clause flow downs and inspection codes and ensure Purchase Order represents the appropriate configuration on order.

  • Maintain calibration records and identification of Measurement and Test Equipment and where needed Preventive Maintenance records.

  • Training Records: Maintain employee QMS training records, partner with HR for new employee indoctrination training records, partner with Operations for manufacturing training records.

  • Support lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.

  • Supports document and record retention activities and ensures compliance including Device History Records (DHRs).

  • May require occasional travel.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field and 2-4 years of experience [or] 5+ years of experience in aerospace quality engineering or equivalent.

  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, and aerospace industry regulations.

  • Familiarity with GD&T, FAI, SPC, RCCA, and process validation.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.

  • Experience with supplier quality management and auditing.

Salary and Pay Transparency
Salary range for this position is between $42,000 and $81,400. Base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and all applicable company benefits.
