LaunchPoint Electric Propulsion Solutions Advances AFWERX UAS Power Generation Program with Follow-On Award.
GOLETA, California – March 30th, 2026 – LaunchPoint Electric Propulsion Solutions, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a follow-on contract from the United States Air Force through the AFWERX UAS Power Generation Challenge to advance development of its modular power generation system for large unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Under this next phase of the program, LaunchPoint is developing hardware prototypes and conducting demonstration activities to validate system performance and mission applicability.
The follow-on contract builds on LaunchPoint’s successful efforts under the AFWERX UAS Power Generation Challenge, which seeks to accelerate the development of transformative electrical power generation and distribution solutions that enhance operational capabilities and resilience across the Department of the Air Force.
Under this next phase of the project, LaunchPoint will apply its expertise in electrical power generation systems to design, build, and demonstrate prototype hardware tailored to the specific requirements of Air Force missions and platforms. The system leverages LaunchPoint’s novel power-dense and lightweight electric machine technology, incorporating advanced motor, generator, and controller capabilities to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance while reducing the logistical burden, maintenance complexity, and cost associated with incumbent solutions.
